Yechidat Shai: Modern Day Nehemiahs
By Audrey Russo

Nehemiah [450 BC], (who I consider to be the first Seabee [as in US Navy Seabees, "We Build, We Fight"])...is again having an influence on current day Jerusalem...

Yechidat Shai*, is a special group of volunteers organized under the Israeli Border Guards (Magav). A special combat unit formed in January 2006.

These volunteers, Jews from all over the world, leave behind jobs & families on a recurring basis in order to serve in this unique combat unit. The soldiers receive no pay and a good deal of their equipment is privately funded. Their only incentive: To protect the City of Jerusalem from the evil that seeks to destroy it. The soldiers of Yechidat Shai follow in the tradition of the Prophet Nehemiah:

"At the same time I also said to the people, "Let each man and his servant stay at night in Jerusalem, that they may be our guard by night and a working party by day"
Nehemiah 4:22

These modern day Nehemiahs know that, in the words of Thomas Jefferson, "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

May G-d's hand continue to protect His land...and remember: Sha'alu Shalom Yirushalayim - "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper that love thee." Psalm 122:6

* 'Yechidat Shai.' Yechida is unit and shai is an acronym for ‘Shomer Yerushalyim,’ which literally means ‘The Guardians of Jerusalem'

For Israel, It Must Be A 1981 Déjà vu
By Audrey Russo

The closest estimation given of Iran having nuclear capability is 6 months. Six months to a Nazi-like, tyrannical machine having the potential to eliminate Israel...and any other 'infidel' country that looks at them the wrong way (and that includes the EU).

Iran's tyrannical terrorist, Ahmedinejad, is fully aware (thanks to the liberal media) that our country is polarized by the war in Iraq...so he feels free to spew his vitriolic, anti-Semitic rhetoric. He also knows that our government is apprehensive to craft a military attack on Tehran's nuclear facilities, due to world opinion. So as the world powers discuss how they can slap Iran's hand, Israel must deal with reality...

The threat upon tiny Israel is real and eminent, if Tehran is not stopped. It was unpopular in 1981, when Israel had to destroy Saddam's nuclear facilities (which even the US first condemned, then commended)...and it will again be met with rebuke...but Israel has no other choice. It is a matter of life and death for the Jewish State.

For Israel, it must be 1981 deja vu.

Abbas: Paltering Peace Partner
By Audrey Russo

Should Israeli leaders continue to look to Mahmoud Abbas as a partner in peace? Israeli leaders have nervously looked to Abbas as a potential partner in the peace process based upon his statements in English. But, like his predecessor Arafat, his Arabic statements reveal his true beliefs...

In a TV interview on PA TV, Abbas referred to 'palestinian' terrorists serving "tens of life sentences" in Israeli prisons as "our heroes." These terrorists are serving "tens of life sentences" for personally killing dozens of Israelis, and have been given one life sentence for each murder. But to Abbas, they are "our heroes." His statements from May 23, 2006 on PA TV concerning incarcerated terrorists' recent "conciliation plan" proposal between Fatah and Hamas, Abbas uttered his satisfaction with the suggestion from those he called "our brothers, our jailed heroes... [their] initiative proves that these heroes, who are sentenced to tens of life sentences, feel too that the homeland is in danger..."

This duplicity, of course, is nothing new. The now deceased (thank G-d) Yasser Arafat used this paltering practice all his public life. They have no compunction lying to keep their adversaries blinded, so they can gain the advantage. And their advantage is death for Israeli innocents.

The Israeli government is too sage to fall for Arafat's old tactics...they are merely doing so because of pressure from the EU and, most of all, from the US.

Abbas is not interested in peace. And allowing his English statements to guide Israel down a path, will not end in peace...but only death.

Abbas is no peace partner, but rather a palterer. So a peace process is moot.
