...the privilege of living in a free land. Perhaps as never before in modern history Americans have a more sober understanding and appreciation for the blessings of liberty that are our's in this great land, we call the United States of America.
September 11, 2001 sent a shock wave of reality through our nation, and the ongoing war on terrorism has opened our eyes to the contrast between a free people, such as we are, and an oppressed people, such as are found in Arab nations.
Once again, what evil meant for harm is being turned for good, everywhere American soldiers run into the fray against our enemies. Two major Arab nations, Afghanistan and Iraq, are being liberated as our troops and the troops of our allies bring down evil empires.
On July 4th we get out the sparklers, enjoy the parades and fireworks to celebrate America. Last night as Duane and I and friends enjoyed an incredible fireworks display in our home county, the larger gathered crowd of hundreds sitting on blankets and lawn chairs under the display cheered and clapped with great abandon, some even breaking into spontaneous singing of The Star Spangled Banner.
This is the month our minds and hearts turn, even if just briefly, to our history, our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the words that declare we are 'endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights...among which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness'.
Note that it all begins with...life...without which no one can enjoy the blessings of liberty.
So this month we will be focusing on life & liberty issues....such as the agenda of Planned Parenthood's founder for a perfect race, which includes the elimination of one race in particular, for our "Can I Live" July 5th show. And the ongoing question of "Will there ever be peace in the Middle East?" for our July 14th show. You'll find articles from our team of writers on the theme of life and liberty, which will also be carried pver into our More on WOMANTalk pages.
Life...Liberty...and the ability to pursue happiness...let's celebrate these blessings, but let us also work to secure them for our children and our children's children.
